Mathnasium provides both in-person and online instruction that’s customized and tailored to your student’s specific needs. Our math experts teach math in a way that makes sense to students of all ages. We work at each student’s own pace using individualized learning plans and a curriculum library of over 1,000 topics ranging from pre-k to pre-calculus.
Students engage material deeply with face-to-face instruction, whether that’s online or in the center. And the prizes and games? Well, they’re unbeatable! Not only do we make math make sense, we make it exciting, too!

We’re More Structured than Private Tutors
Private tutors are great for helping with homework to get through a class, but they don’t have a curriculum that focuses on foundational understanding. Mathnasium delivers the same personal connection as private tutors along with a customized learning plan, school topic support, prizes, and games.

Why I started the Business
Mathnasium began in 2002, but the heart of Mathnasium dates back much further than that.
Larry Martinek was a devoted math teacher serving in Los Angeles schools, heartbroken by the struggles his students faced due to fundamental skill gaps in their learning. Much of our original curriculum was created by Larry for use in his classroom to serve his students and help make math make sense. Once students’ skill gaps were being addressed, Larry saw their mathematical futures (and their attitudes!) grow brighter. In the late 90s, Larry decided to fulfill his late son Nic’s dream and take what would become known as the Mathnasium method to students of the world.
Mathnasium serves students all around the world. Our methods are proven to help students close the gaps and find long-lasting success in mathematics.

Mathnasium has been serving local communities around Tucson and Arizona since 2005. We are passionate about making math make sense and helping students reach their individual goals.
