Movement and fitness has many benefits for kids that are more than just physical! In this blog we are going to cover our top 5 benefits of incorporating daily movement and fitness for you kiddos
1. Boosts Brain Function
-Physical activity increases blood flow and oxygen to the brain, which enhances the growth of new brain cells and strengthens neural connections—especially in areas responsible for memory, attention, and executive function. Helping create new path ways and body patterns can help make your child better understand their body in time and space!
2. Improves Focus and Academic Performance
-Movement helps children improve their ability to concentrate, follow instructions, and stay on task—all of which are critical for classroom learning and problem-solving. Taking just 5 minutes in between your child’s lessons to help them stretch, run or do something active will help keeping you child’s focus throughout the day!
3. Supports Emotional Regulation
-Exercise reduces stress hormones like cortisol and boosts endorphins, helping kids manage anxiety, mood swings, and behavioral challenges. If your kiddo is feeling a little to energetic and needs to release some energy, try bear crawls, medicine ball slams or sprints.
4. Enhances Motor Planning and Coordination
-Activities like crawling, jumping, and balancing strengthen the brain-body connection, improving fine and gross motor skills, which are tied to cognitive tasks such as handwriting, reading, and spatial awareness.
5. Encourages Social and Communication Skills
-Group movement activities promote collaboration, turn-taking, empathy, and confidence—all key parts of social-emotional growth.
