Why I started the Business
I started my business because I love math and teaching others to love it too. I have always seen how frustrated and worn down both parents and students can get when the student repeatedly struggles with the same kind of math problems. I know that there is often one missing piece. If a student does not understand one foundational concept, recall the necessary vocabulary terms, or write their work down it is more difficult to correctly solve complicated math problems. I like to help students and parents realize that the student understands more than they think they do. This helps build the student’s confidence and self-esteem and lessens frustration and anxiety. Having been a homeschool student myself, I understand the tension when a parent-child relationship also is a teacher-student relationship. I recognize that each student has their own unique educational journey, I communicate with parent and student about what they have tried, what has or has not been helpful, the student’s current struggles, and the ultimate goal for the student’s educational, career, or life goals. I hold high expectations while also understanding that every student does not learn and look at math the same way or at the same pace.

About Suzanna:
I have had a very diverse educational journey. I have been homeschooled, gone to an online public high school, and attended a private Christian university. I graduated from Grand Canyon University in 2020 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics with an Emphasis in Secondary Education. My husband and I both come from large families, and we recently started one of our own! I enjoy being a mom and look forward to teaching my newest little student as he grows. I love to coordinate with parents concerning expectations for students. I know each student has their own specific challenges and motivators. I approach each new student with an open mind to learn what will help them to be successful and more confident in their math abilities!
About Julianna:
I graduated from GCU in December 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I have been spending time with, taking care of, and teaching children since I would have been considered a child myself including activities like babysitting in junior high and nannying throughout high school and college. After I started learning about psychology, childhood development, and emotional regulation skills I noticed how much the kids I worked with needed to be taught these skills and how much it would help them relate to their peers, participate in their family activities, and grow academically. Spending time with my family is very important to me. Although I am not married and I do not have any children of my own, I spend a lot of my free time loving on my nieces and nephews. As a paraprofessional, I approach teaching first with curiosity. Being curious allows me to learn how best to teach the student in a way that will help them be engaged, understand the skill, and build on abilities they already have.
