This summer learning idea is going to bring music to your ears, literally!
To make musical water glasses all you need is:
- 8 glasses, they DO need to be glass. I didn’t have 8, so I used canning jars. It is best if they are the same size, but they don’t have to be.
- Water.
- A metal spoon.
Number the glasses 1 to 8. Fill glass number 1 almost to the top. Fill glass number 2 a little less than glass number 1. Continue filling the glasses a little less each time until you get to glass number 8.
Ask your child to lightly tap glass number 1. Is it a low sound or a high sound?

Attached are the song sheets so your child can play Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, The Itsy, Bitsy Spider or This Old Man.  Remember glass number 1 is the fullest glass and glass number 8 is the least full.

But, you can also let your child experiment and make up their own tune!
We hope your child enjoys this summer learning idea and makes some beautiful noise!
