Building Resilience in Kids

I have a special connection to the word “resilience” that I even named my Corporation “Resilient One, Inc.”. Resilience is one of the characteristics that can lead to the success of a child hence a very strong character to focus on. (Meg Warner, 2020) in her book Joseph defines Resilience as the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or significant sources of stress … It means “bouncing back” from difficult experiences.’

Children need resilience to strive academically, like learning to ride a bicycle, falls are only part of the process, so in schools, when children fail in tests and assignments, they can be resilient by trying again. Tutor Doctor Chandler Gilbert helps children build resilience through one-on-one tutorship for students tailored to understanding their weaknesses and building on their strengths. Like the wonderful practice as part of Japanese work with porcelain called Kintsugi. Kintsugi involves repairing broken pottery with a special lacquer dusted with powdered gold. Once completed, beautiful seams of gold glint in the conspicuous cracks of ceramic wares, giving a one-of-a-kind appearance to each “repaired” piece. (Sterfano Carnazi, 2016) affirms “The Japanese art of kintsugi teaches that broken objects are not something to hide but to display with pride and this is the essence of resilience, learning from mistakes and failures then improving to produce a unique masterpiece” Tutor Doctor Chandler Gilbert serves as that special gold layering your Childs Education towards their growth and success using our unique tutorship and mentoring service.
